South Melbourne drivers beware

22 Jan, 2012 08:28 PM
SOUTH Melbourne police have warned motorists to avoid using mobile phones while driving and to ensure they wear seatbelts.

The warnings come as part of Operation Woof, a regular operation by South Melbourne police where plain-clothes officers act as spotters, monitoring cars driving past and radioing through to a road block further ahead to notify police there of traffic offences.

Drivers are generally unaware they have been detected until they get pulled into the roadblock and are issued an infringement notice.
