School enrolment inquiry sought for Port Melbourne

School enrolment inquiry sought for Port Melbourne

20 Feb, 2012 03:00 AM
SOUTHERN Metropolitan Region MLA Andrea Coote MLC has called for an investigation into rising school enrolments in Port Melbourne.

The parliamentary secretary for families and community services said schools such as Port Melbourne Primary had experienced substantial growth over the past decade and needed additional investment to cope with an expected population boost from housing redevelopment at Fishermans Bend.

"More households mean more families, so it is essential that adequate infrastructure, including schools, be invested during the development," she said.

The children from Dockland and further away should not be allowed to enroll at Port Melbourne State School. Docklands is full of empty cafes during the day. Knock them down or convert them into a local school.

Also a bit of responsible family planning would help too - 2 children good; 4 children bad. Stop breeding like human rabbits from the 19th century.
